EDO RAM

Extended Data Out (EDO) RAM is a particular design of DRAM that improves the time to read from memory, optimised for the 66Mhz system bus. The system bus is discussed later in this section. With the development of faster system bus speeds, EDO RAM became less advantageous as it was unable to compete with other advanced memory types such as synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) that can actually run at bus speeds of 100MHz and faster, equal to the system bus speed.
