Number Systems

In order to gain an appreciation of the computer it is necessary to look at some of the numbering systems, as several different are used . This section will cover the following numbering systems:

• The Decimal Number System - counting in tens
• The Binary Number System - counting in twos
• Binary Coded Decimal - counting in tens with twos
• Octal - counting in eights
• Hexadecimal - counting in sixteens
